Pantone announced their 2020 Color of the Year as Classic Blue. Ann Lowengart Interiors, never afraid of bold color, often picks this celestial shade of blue for their rooms. Depending on the mood Annie wants to create, she will use a monochromatic color palette, go complimentary with pops of orange, or pick verdant green as a companion. In the butler's pantry of a Cow Hollow home built in the late 19th century, she selected a vibrant high gloss navy paint for the cabinetry, paneled wall and backsplash. She contrasted this with white Carrara marble countertops, polished nickel hardware, and handwoven natural fiber Roman shades.

In a Peninsula family's colonial-style home, Annie saturated the walls of the central library with twenty coats of lapis blue lacquer. For the bookshelves, she lined the backs with a matching grasscloth. Ann Lowengart Interiors wove the color blue throughout the room; an indigo upholstered tête-à-tête and drapery panels of linen ombre panels that transition from pale to midnight blue.

Throughout this Kentfield home, Ann Lowengart Interiors incorporated both the wife's love of yellow and traditional prints with the husband's penchant for greys and modern silhouettes. Blue became neutral ground as in this elegant powder room. Annie painted the cabinetry and trim a black blue to highlight the smoke-colored hand block print wall covering. Art Deco-inspired nickel-plated faucets mix easily with a black Chinoiserie mirror.  While Annie loves designing with classic blues, she takes her color cues from the homeowner and their environment. Listening to her clients, she creates a color palette unique to their tastes, the house's architecture, and the surrounding landscape.
