Interior Gardens: Floral and Foliate Wallpapers

Galbraith & Paul Lotus Mushroom

Galbraith & Paul Lotus Mushroom

February marks the last month of winter, which means spring and flowers are right around the corner. At Ann Lowengart Interiors, we love interior gardens all year round, which is why we decorate the walls of our projects with floral and foliate wallpapers. This classic motif looks current when paired with vibrant and contrasting colors or updated neutrals. They are equally appropriate in neo-colonial homes on the Peninsula or Marin bungalows. Annie shares a few of her favorite patterns.

For the entry of a San Anselmo cottage, Annie chose Lotus, an Indian inspired floral hand block-printed wallpaper from Galbraith & Paul. Lotus comes in twelve exquisite colorways. This one in Mushroom features muted shades of sky, fog, and earth that set the tone for the color palette of the rest of the house.

Custom Fromental Willow

Custom Fromental Willow

A 1930's fashion plate inspired Fromental's Willow wallpaper showing the weeping tree in full bloom. For an elegant dining room in Ross, Ann Lowengart Interiors is custom coloring the design using an ocean blue ground, green pods, gray branches, and blush accent dots. Fromental, a British company, combines 18th Century Chinoiserie techniques of painted and embroidered silk with London fashion sense for contemporary designs.

Svenskt Tenn Varklockor in White

Annie used Varklockor, a wallpaper designed by Austrian born architect, artist, and designer Josef Frank for a happy guest bathroom. Frank, an early figure in Viennese modernism, immigrated to Sweden in 1933 and is considered one of his adopted country's most influential designers. His wallpaper Varklockor is reminiscent of a flower bed; the horizontal motif features spring flowers such as tulips, crocuses, dandelions, and forget-me-nots. No matter the flower, at Ann Lowengart Interiors these interior gardens are perfect for any room.
