Design in Review: Interiors of Marin County

Every day is a reminder of how grateful I am to be an Interior Designer. Whether sourcing furniture, engaged in an installation or perfecting a floor plan, I am lucky to be able to say, “I love my job.” As the end of 2017 is approaching, I have time to reflect on past projects that I’m proud of. Here is a roundup of some of my favorite homes located in Marin County.

Mill Valley Calm

A partial remodel of a Marin ranch home, this residence was designed to highlight the incredible views outside its walls. High ceilings, an open floor plan, and new hardware create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. With the concept that “less is more,” we focused on the orientation of each room and the introduction of clean-lined furnishings to highlight the view rather than the decor, while statement lighting, pillows, and textures added a punch to each space.

Tiburon Modern

For this chic family home, we were approached by a sartorial-minded couple looking for interiors that were family-friendly and fashion-forward. Renovating the dated 90’s Tiburon spec home, Ann Lowengart Interiors remodeled the kitchen and bathrooms, changed the trim and removed radius corners to give the space a modern look. Mixing rich color and bold pattern, we created a one-of-a-kind residence that proves that style doesn’t need to be compromised for the sake of the kids.

Happy Fam

This Kentfield residence began as a kitchen remodel and quickly progressed into a full home renovation. By reconfiguring the interior architecture, we created a floorplan that best accommodates the demands of modern family life. The homeowners were keen on making bold design decisions for a lasting impact, from the yellow wallpapered entryway to the gray lacquered office. The result is a bespoke residence that truly reflects the energy and warmth of the happy family that calls it home.

Squeeze of Lime

This Marin residence evolved into a new family home when the homeowner married her husband during the design process. Marrying the couple’s individual styles, we designed a fresh, youthful residence enlivened by bold color. Remodeling the media room, media bath, laundry room and office, we restructured the residence for a contemporary Californian feel.

Kent Woodlands

For this Marin family home, what began as a guest house remodel evolved into a full residential remodel. By bringing the house down to the studs, we added an additional wing, second story, and custom architectural details to make space for a growing family. Drawing on the couple’s love of bright blue, we punctuated the airy, white spaces with cheerful pops of color.
